On Oct 9, ChemChina’s general manager, Ren Jianxin, and Bluestar leaders joined more than 200 Chinese and foreign children from various countries for a happy party to mark the successful finish of the 23th Bluestar summer camp. Because Bluestar has businesses in 150 countries and regions and 45 plants, with 17 of them spread across the globe, the summer camp has become a way to integrate company cultures. And, this year, the children of 54 overseas employees, who had drawn lots, joined Chinese children in Chinese cultural activities, sports, and much more.

One 12-year-old American boy said that the camp was a journey of learning, making Chinese friends, and getting to know China and that it was very interesting and he’d do it again. A Brazilian employee who has been at Bluestar since 2006, brought her two children to the camp and said that she’s grown with the company and that having her children at the summer camp means a lot to her because it can increase their understanding of Chinese companies.

Huang Fang, deputy director of Peking University’s Enterprise Research Center, said that the camp can play an important role in company culture through innovation and demonstration and that the international camp will help Bluestar reach its dream of going global and integrating various cultures. The summer camp is more than 20 years old and has been involving the children of overseas employees since 2009. In 2011, more than 1,100 children from almost a dozen countries took part in the camp, in 19 cities across China.
